Why You Should Hire a Human Resources Freelancer
Human Resources, like most other jobs, is a great candidate for hiring freelance workers. Below, I would like to list the pros and cons, why Human Resource Managers should hire a Human Resources Freelancer. I remember while working in an office, the amount of mundane, everyday tasks I had to complete. This work did not further the internal mission of the company’s Human Resources department. This is why it is perfect for including freelancers as a part of your team.
Pros for Hiring a Human Resources Freelancer
They are typically cheaper!
Depending on the task you are looking to complete of course. Most of the time, if you are looking for an ongoing report to be created, you can find a cheaper option in the online marketplace. Many freelancers will happily do the task for a lower rate than what a full Human Resources Professional would make.
Shopping for Specialists!
Normally, an HR professional has certain parts of the job where they are considered a specialist. This is perfect when it is in relation to Payroll, Training, Safety, or Employee Relations. The issue is that most jobs now require far too many daily and weekly reports to ever think of Training. There are people in the online marketplace that Specialize in report creation and execution.
Finding the Perfect Candidates!
Recruiting often requires a massive budget that is more or less thrown in the trash. Because of this, positions often remain empty for too much time for it to be helpful for the proper running of the business. By hiring a Human Resources Freelancer as a recruiter, you have a better chance of finding a candidate, because they are free to research the perfect candidate for your business across all possible recruiting methods.
Designing the Perfect Training Program
Imagine your company having its own video training courses instead of the standard boring powerpoint courses.
Creating a training plan is one of the first things a business does at the start of the year. But, in my experience, most of the training has no hopes of being completed by the companies overworked associates. Not to mention, the time it takes to create the materials and presentations to go along with the training. A human resources freelancer is a perfect option for this! Freelancers can create the documentation required for auditing purposes and create presentations that workers can easily follow. Imagine your company having its own video training courses instead of the standard boring PowerPoint courses. This could be a game changer for scheduling training. A video course would provide a more consistent time frame for your training than the PowerPoint option.
You can literally have work completed while you are off-of-the-clock!
Freelancers can be from all over the world. This means that it is possible for your company to hire someone at the beginning of your day and they could potentially have more hours to work on it. For example, because I am currently living in Europe, I have at least a 6 hour time difference from the eastern United States. So, while you and your team are sleeping, I would have at least 6 hours to complete the job before you even show up at work to start the day.
It Saves Time!
The online marketplace allows HR Managers the opportunity to outsource small tasks that otherwise will take up tons of time from the more important tasks that most Generalists need to work on daily.
Perceived Cons for Hiring a Human Resources Freelancer
The Consistency of Task Quality between multiple freelancers.
This can be an issue in the same way that having multiple standard workers complete a project. I would suggest that if you have multiple freelancers working on projects, make sure that they are aware of, and in contact with each other. Also, try to keep a single freelancer working on reporting tasks if possible. If you have a massive project requiring multiple freelancers, it doesn’t have to be a problem. Each freelancer will need clear and concise instructions for their own part of the process as well as a general understanding of how their part fits within the whole.
Hiring “Contractors” vs. Hiring Employees
The nature of most standard contract positions is short-term task oriented, which is great! The biggest mistake with hiring contractors is expecting them to work as employees and doing all types of work instead of specified tasks. Freelancers are more than willing to work as a generalist if that is what is agreed upon during the contract process. The key to all freelance work orders is clarity. Without clarity, you would be wasting your company’s hard-earned money and the freelancers time.
