Benefits of Meditation for Entrepreneurs
The Importance of Mindfulness
Meditation is not only for the free-spirited folks anymore, you would probably be amazed at just how many people meditate on a daily basis. For the month of November, one of the location independent groups I am a part of is doing a meditation challenge where you have to meditate every day and then let everyone know. I personally have used meditation on and off many times for all sorts of reasons. Most recently I have used the Calm App on iTunes for whenever I need to focus or fall asleep. As a part of my morning routine, I decided to check out the Headspace App and I am thoroughly pleased with the amount of progress I have seen since adding it to my morning.
The biggest thing that holds people back, I think, when it comes to meditation is that it’s hard to think about setting aside time in your day especially in the morning for a bit of self-care that does not get you ready for work or school. To be honest, I would disagree that it does not help, because in a way it helps you get into the mindset of alertness and gives you a new perspective on your daily life. I would say that it is definitely worth waking up a bit earlier in the morning to make sure that you can fit it into your morning.
Headspace, A Great Place to Start
The Headspace App is especially useful for getting you started with meditation in general because it starts out with a fast ten-minute session that you complete for 10 days before you can even access the other parts of the App. After the first couple of days, it is so easy to get into the habit of taking that few minutes to care for your own well-being before you start with all the crazy things that happen during the day. I have now gotten to the point that the first thing, after getting a glass of water in the morning, is meditate. Before I even pick up my phone to get through all the notifications I seem to get over the night.
Benefits of Meditation
The benefits that I have noticed when it comes to my daily life are pretty fantastic. I feel much more able to get through the day even if I am sleepy from not having enough sleep the night before. I seem to be a bit more focused and driven when it comes to growing my business or studying for classes. To be honest, I never personally thought I could say it. As long as I get my morning meditation in, the coffee is not as necessary as it used to be. The fact that I am more centered and focused on succeeding in the day.
By taking this extra time, I have begun to fully see the things in my life or habits that I have that are holding me back from succeeding in my business and in life in general. I have a new level of patience when working with other people while still managing to achieve everything that I want to during the day. Meditation has helped me begin to have more productivity when it comes to school and my business as well. I am much more focused on planning and following through with the plan because of the clarity that my morning meditation has created.
Meditation for Health
From a health standpoint, I am practically always stressed to succeed which causes my muscles to tense and stay tight all the time. The great thing is that since I started meditating, the tension is finally lessening and hopefully on its way to disappearing all-together. I can be a bit of a perfectionist and it has helped me with producing great content but that I can be proud of and still update in the future to make it more “perfect” to suit me. When you are able to take yourself out of the driver seat for a few moments to do a bit of self-work, it helps to see the bigger picture and what the things are that you need to change or work on a bit more.
